Kaleb Jordan is an American coffee roaster raised in the village of Maneepruek, where the Prai and Hmong people share the mountain ranges along the Thai-Lao border. One day, a Thai man acquired over 40 coffee varieties in Chiang Mai. He gave them to Kaleb for free; these plants had already been in Thailand for 30 years. Kaleb and his research team discovered a few unique coffee plants among them, and he named one of them ‘Syrina’ after his daughter. Genetic testing revealed that the mysterious Syrina is a unique coffee with a complex lineage, involving a long list of different varieties. Sachimor, Mondo Novo, Typica, Bourbon, and even Timo Hybrid all played a role in the creation of Syrina. From the appearance, Syrina is abit like Parainema, both of them are Sachimor variant, but the shapes is more like Java and Geisha. Flavor wise is combination of Kenya acidity and Geisha Flavor notes.
